I have sent data directly between reaktor VST instances within ableton, effectively bypassing it and the channel merge problem.įor example you can have an instance of reaktor with all the instruments on separate channels, send data via OSC to separate instances of reaktor which act as recievers/routers, which convert the data to midi, then send to an ableton track. Also I do not know where the problem lies. Surely this cannot be the case? It seems unthinkable that in 2013, a program like Live cannot handle MIDI data flexibly. I have searched for a solution, or settings that may fix this. This effectively means any MIDI output channel settings in Reaktor instruments become irrelevant, since Ableton merges everything. All MIDI channels will be input into the Ableton track, and all channels will be merged into one. However if you select the MIDI input of an Ableton track to come from a Reaktor VST instance, you CANNOT select a single channel. You can then set the Reaktor instruments to receive certain channels. Ableton can then send the track MIDI messages into a desired Reaktor VST channel. If you select an external MIDI input, you can filter 1 channel, or merge all channels into 1. Ableton tracks only work on single MIDI channels. I am running into this bottleneck issue with Ableton (I use Live 8), Reaktor VST and MIDI channel routing.
